At Blankkini, we love a little fun in the sun! Unfortunately, too much sun can cause some damage. Too much exposure to the sun and its harmful UV rays can cause sun sports, reduce elasticity, and even damage skin cells and cause cancer. That being said, there are still ways to have fun in the sun while you protect yourself to make sure that all you leave with at the end of the day is a little more melanin! Here are our skincare tips to get you ready for basking in the sun.
Wear Sunscreen Everyday
One of the most important yet overlooked aspects of skincare is wearing sunscreen every day! The sun’s rays can be incredibly harmful to your skin, even when the sun doesn’t feel that strong. Wearing sunscreen every time you go outside will help protect your skin from sun spots, wrinkles, and even skin cancer. Applying sunscreen should be as much a part of your skincare routine as cleansers, toners, and moisturizers!
Remember to reapply sunscreen throughout the day.
Your Scalp Needs Sunscreen Too
That being said, don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your scalp. Getting a sunburn on the top of your head is one of the most painful kinds of sunburns that you can get. Make sure that you cover your head scalp with sunscreen.
If you don’t want to get sunscreen in your hair, make sure that you accessorize with a wide brim hat!
Avoid the Sun at Peak Hours
While we want to spend the entire day by the pool or on the beach, be sure to avoid the sun during its peak hours. This will help protect your skin from blemishes, sun damage, and sunburns.
Exfoliate Dry Skin
Summer breakouts are the worst. Unfortunately, your skin is bound to dry and flake throughout the day. Be sure to exfoliate your skin regularly to prevent clogging pores with dead skin and dirt to curb summer acne breakouts and blemishes.
Use a Moisturizer With SPF
If you want to cut down on the number of steps in your skincare regimen, you can choose to use a moisturizer with SPF. This will help moisturize your skin while protecting it from the sun’s harmful rays. Be sure to use a moisturize with an SPF of at least 30.
While you’re spending your days outdoors, the best thing that you can do for your skin is to stay hydrated. Any time you spend an extended amount of time outdoors, you should keep yourself and your skin hydrated. Hydration is important for maintaining firm, glowing skin. Drink lots of water and use serums and moisturizers that have hyaluronic acid— an important ingredient for hydrating skin.
